Getting around in Vienna
Vienna has an excellent public transport network of buses, trams, underground and trains, which run frequently and (usually!) very efficiently.
There are night buses too, which run every half hour throughout the night.
We can help with advice about which connections to use to get to the different VFM venues and will make city maps available to anyone who would like one!
Tickets
A single journey ticket costs €1,80 (or €2,20 if you buy it on the bus/train/tram)
A weekly ticket costs €14 and would be valid from your arrival until 9am on Monday 2nd January. So, even if you only arrive on 29th December and make 2 single journeys each day until 1st January, it’s worth getting one!
NB!! Vienna Airport is one zone outside of the central city zone. A weekly ticket + a €1,80 ticket means you won’t get a €70 fine if the ticket inspectors come round. And don’t forget to stamp the €1,80 ticket before you get on the train!!
Taxis
A 10 minute journey during the night costs approximately €10.
